This is the Purple Haze build (continued).

This was Steve's favorite part of the build, but unfortunately, there was no one there to take action pics of the carve in progress. Using a carving disk on the angle grinder, he started with a 'pillow' carve to set the depth on the edges. Then, starting at that edge depth, he put in the LP s-carve fron the edge to the central section where the pickus and bridge sit. After rough carving with the grinder, he went back with rasps, files, scrapers and sand paper to tune the shape and smooth the surface.

Finally, the neck and body come together, and the neck gets it's final shape.

The headstock got a black ABS veneer. It was glued on, then trimmed to match the profile of the headstock. Then tuner holes were drilled.

Fretting was uneventful. I trimmed the ends to accomodate the fretboard binding, and hammered the frets in. A full dress and polish followed installation.

This is a photo-heavy build, so to help out our fans with slower connections...
